Abstract: The English language is being used in the world today massively, openly and online. Reproducing communities of massive, open and online learners to practise English is also a way of reproducing the conditions in which learners are likely to use English in real life. Could an English Language Learning MOOC work and how should it be designed? This paper attempts to show that an ELL mobile learning cMOOC could address the creation of knowledge about the language but also the practise of communicative, digital and inter-cultural skills among others. However as potential of technology is not always matched by the reality of its use, we also open a discussion on the possible difficulties to make the model work.
